Andy Ruiz Jr admits where he went wrong.
After shocking the boxing world in 2019 by dethroning Anthony Joshua and winning three of the four major world titles in the heavyweight division, Ruiz Jr has settled down. As a result, the Mexican star spent the next few months partying and drinking excessively.
Vowing to reclaim his world title, Ruiz Jr recently returned to the ring to beat a game but clearly overtook Chris Arreola in May 2021. In his next appearance, Ruiz Jr expressed his dismay. interested in facing off against division superiors, which include the likes of Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Luis Ortiz.
However, despite those names being talked about a lot, Ruiz Jr has settled on his longtime journey, Tyrone Spong. The two will officially face each other in the Triller Club pay-per-view match on July 16, in Ruiz Jr’s hometown of Mexico.
News of the event comes from completely on the left, especially considering the position of both men in their respective careers. In the case of Ruiz Jr., as mentioned earlier, the former unified champion is all about trying to be one of the biggest stars and possible heavyweight contenders.
On the other hand, Spong was no longer active. The kickboxing champion was last seen in the boxing ring in August 2019, when he won a second round knockout against Jeyson Minda.
In the end, while Spong’s boxing career didn’t go well, he continued to compete in other sports. On January 28, earlier this year, Spong played against Sergei Kharitonov, at Eagle FC 44, a mixed martial arts organization. Although Spong carried a spotless record with him to the octagon, he was brutally knocked out in the second round.
