They said it was overdue by the day… then the tickets sold out in a few minutes.
It looks like the February 19 battle between longtime rivals Kell Brook and Amir Khan will be a big hit, at least in terms of direct gates. Tickets are already on sale at Manchester Arena and will be sold out in just a few minutes. There is certainly a lot of love for boxing in the UK but even by English standards this is something of a shock. Many would agree that the fight would eventually sell out, but few would argue that it would sell out within fifteen minutes.

Khan and Brook were two of the biggest names in welterweight during the Mayweather-Pacquiao era, which showed the world how good they really were. Brook won his IBF title from Shawn Porter and too few people remember the fact that Mayweather himself seems to want nothing to do with the lightning-fast Khan. Both men have lost some big fights, but they have dared to go great, which is commendable in themselves and especially in today’s sport’s sometimes low ambitions.
