Americans are fleeing climate change – here’s where they can go

Millions of Americans are living in communities with precarious climatic conditions, in overpriced homes.

However, there is a solution for many of these people: Move to one of the so-called climate havens.

Climate havens or climate destinations are located in places that avoid the worst effects of disasters and have the infrastructure to support a larger population. Many of these heritage cities are located in the Northeast.

Jesse Keenan, an associate professor of real estate at Tulane University, has named the following cities as possible climate havens…

Anna Marandi, who served as director of the climate resilience and sustainability program at the National League of Cities, added two other locations to the safe haven list: Ann Arbor, Michigan, and perhaps worth it. Surprisingly Orlando, Florida.

Marandi said Orlando made the cuts because the city adopted decarbonization measures.

Americans are fleeing climate change – here’s where they can go

The CNBC “journalist” has a BA in sociology, anthropology, and film & media studies and seems to think that Americans are literally running away from climate change or that she is making assumptions. standard alarm theory that something predicted by climate models has been happening.

Any American *to be* currently on the run from climate change, it’s probably a good idea to know where they’re going before they start running.

Academic geniuses, cited in the article, suggest that these places are good climates:

One would think that the “associate professor of real estate at Tulane University” might have checked to see real patterns and reasons for population migration. Maybe he could have checked with U-Haul or another large relocation company, such as North American Moving Service.

According to the map above, people are “running away” from the red states (mostly voting blue) to refugia in the blue states (mostly voting red). Note that three-quarters of the “climate paradise” cities are in states with declining populations.

So… It’s clear that “Americans are running away” from something, but it doesn’t seem to be climate change.

What horrors are Americans fleeing from? Are they looking for refuge?

Here’s why they run away:

1.) Desire for a lower cost of living
2.) Get closer to family
3.) Increase flexibility in work
Other factors important to Americans’ mobility include:
4.) Looking for new job opportunities
5.) Better School
6.) Better safety related to pandemic

Where will Americans move in 2021?

So… Americans really aren’t “running away” from anything. They are looking for things that are “better” than what they currently have.

The respected real estate professor and expert on “climate resilience and sustainability” suggests that Americans should move to cities that are decarbonizing and reduce “urban sprawl” by accumulating people into small areas where they cannot have personal cars (AKA: Agenda 21).

Marandi said Orlando made the cuts because the city adopted decarbonization measures. While the natural environment, such as a city without a sea, is an advantage, cities can “earn” titles by working to provide benefits such as affordable housing. and commitment to economic sustainability.

“I see climate migration as an opportunity for these cities to avoid the mistakes of urban development,” says Marandi. “They usually have a lively, walkable downtown that might just need a little revitalization.”

If climate change is a real problem, it’s a global problem. Local decarbonization measures do not “earn” anything in the climate regeneration division. While Charleston SC is not mentioned in the article, it does appear to be on the map. It is sinking into the Atlantic Ocean. Why is it on the map as a climate paradise? Do they “earn” climate paradise status due to garbage lawsuit against “big oil”?

Real people seem to be looking for “urban sprawl”…

Americans specifically moved to these states for a number of possible reasons:

1.) Desire for more space – Neighbor.com finds that half of people will move out by 2021
desire more space in their new home.

With home space being such a major factor, states have lower median housing prices such as
as Arizona and Tennessee became the top destinations while California, New Jersey and New
York has a much higher median home price.

2.) Opportunity to work remotely – There are no obstacles to living anywhere in the US due to remote working, millions of Americans have had the opportunity to live in a city where they will have the opportunity to work remotely. more disposable income.

3.) Taxes – New York (12.7%), New Jersey (12.2%), Illinois (11.0%) and California (11.0%) all
ranks among the top five states with the highest combined state and local taxes based on
Research by the Tax Organization.

While taxes aren’t the only factor people consider when deciding where to live, they can
definitely a major consideration.

Meanwhile, the states with the highest number of Americans immigrating are those with
Tax-friendly states in the US include Arizona with 1.8% and Tennessee with no income
while South Carolina has a graduate income tax of 0 to 7%.

Where will Americans move in 2021?

Americans seem to be moving away from the Agenda 21 utopia and “climate paradise”.

Conclude

1. Climate change doesn’t reduce the list of reasons Americans move.
2. These items are not cited as desirable:
   • Avoid “urban sprawl”.
   • Local decarbonization measures.
   • Cities with “a vibrant, walkable downtown.”
   • Sustainability.
   • Cities “located in the Northeast.”

People seem to be looking for places in the suburbs and beyond where they can have more properties, bigger homes and a bigger carbon footprint.
