*Dominguez was originally from the Mexico City area, but he was not a city boy, describing himself as a farmer kid. He moved to the Bronx at age 10 and says he was so hounded by his classmates that he got into some skirmishes. So his mother took him to the gym at the age of 13 and he has been actively involved in the sport ever since.

* He had 59 amateur fights and won three New York Golden Glove championships.

* His professional debut came in August 2020, with a four-round decider against Jonathan Correa Alamo. The only other opponent to overtake him was Ivan Vasquez last November.

* On March 26, he knocked out Jeronil Borres with a blow to the body in the first round. In his next match, on May 14, he stopped Edwin Reyes in the fourth round to win the WBA Fedecentro flyweight belt, which was vacant at the time.

* Currently, Dominguez is ranked 13th in the world by the World Boxing Association in the flyweight category.

* He works after a very good slot and is known to be a good finisher.

* In his final bout, he completed it quickly, with a stunning one-punch knockdown against Ricardo Caraballo in the Sony Hall ring on October 13.

* Still has ties to the Bronx, but he trains in Las Vegas.

* He has expressed that one of the reasons he wants to be a world champion is to “have a platform to help and inspire others”.

MARVIN SOLANO

* Turned pro in November 2012 with a four-round decider against Edwin Lara.

* Join this fight with a huge experience advantage over Andy Dominguez. Solano hit 178 rounds in his career and made it to the round of 16 nine times. Dominguez had a total of 18 innings and never got past four.

* Solano won his first 13 professional fights, before advancing in the competition.

* Win the WBC Continental Americas super bantamweight (115 pounds) belt with a ten-round decisive match against Dewayne Beamon (November 16, 19).

* In March 2021, Solano played Juan Carlos Camacho (11-1 draw) on NBC Sports Network and lost decisively after eight innings. He was able to keep his distance and score from outside for most of the game. He was knocked down three times from low shots, but that was the fourth time – which happened in the eighth round – that he felt was another low but called a knockdown instead. and may have made a difference on the scoreboard in favor of the boxer’s hometown (Camacho is from Puerto Rico).

* In his final bout, Solano rallied to compete for the WBC Continental Americas bantamweight title, but was stopped by Ramon Cardenas after three rounds. It was on August 14 of last year and he hasn’t been in the ring since.

* Solano is tall for her weight and can sometimes use that effectively to her advantage. He’s basically a stand-up boxer who has to use his jab to control things with Dominguez.
