Alfa Romeo Milano – B-segment SUV available as mild hybrid, EV with up to 240 PS, 410 km range
Alfa Romeo hasn’t had a car in the lower end of the premium segment since Giulietta discontinued in 2020, but it’s back for the Milano, aiming to replace both the hatchback and the smaller MiTo. This latest model has evolved into a B-segment SUV in the style of Lexus LBXthe Volvo EX30 and coming soon Aceman MINIand this one definitely has the most polarizing design of them all.
Although the Snake brand is famous for creating jaw-droppingly beautiful cars, it hasn’t been without controversy (remember that me most, SZ?), and Milano certainly enjoys the latter. The front end is by far the most polarizing aspect of the design, with C-shaped headlights and air intakes flanking the non-traditional Alfa fascia.
Instead of being filled with slats, the grille could come in two styles – one stamped with a large version of the Alfa cross emblem and biscione graphics, another has a mesh cover with traditional Alfa Romeo lettering. The headlights – optionally available with matrix LED technology – feature three “eyebrow” daytime running lights on each side, similar to the Brera and 159’s three-barrel lights.
The rest of the design is much more pleasing to the eye, with simple organic surfaces, muscular fenders and rear bumper, blacked-out D-pillars (again with the snake on them), an optional black roof and a bar. black inverted U shape at the back. The rear incorporates a graphic of three L-shaped tail lights. At 4.17 meters long, 1.78 meters wide and 1.5 meters high, the Milano is about 36 centimeters shorter, 6 centimeters narrower and 10 centimeters lower than the popular version to date. timbre. Inside, the Milano carries the general styling of the Tonale, albeit wrapped around the underpinnings of the former PSA Group’s Common Modular Platform (CMP). Some of the switchgear will be familiar to owners of recent Peugeots, most notably the gearshift knob, but it’s offset by signature Alfa touches such as the angled center console and a hooded toolbox with a 10.25-inch display.
In the middle there is another 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with home screen widgets that can be customized with drag and drop. The Milano also has some “quadrifoglio” (four-leaf clover) design touches scattered throughout, including round corner vents and top-of-the-line 20-inch wheels. You can even buy the car with some serious-looking Sabelt sports seats.
Based on the CMP platform, the Milano could get similar powertrain options to other Stellantis stablemates, e.g. Peugeot e-208 And Jeep revenge. The centerpiece is the two electric variants, the base model powered by a 156PS engine up front, plus a 54kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery for a range of 410km.
One step higher is the Veloce, the first vehicle on the same platform equipped with a 240 PS engine. To match its sporty stance, the car is also equipped with a 25mm lower sports suspension, stiffer anti-roll bars, a Torsen limited-slip differential and 380mm front discs with four-piston brake calipers. -concealed behind 20 inch roller. There’s also a mild-hybrid powertrain, again taken from the Avenger. This combines a 1.2-litre Atkinson-cycle three-cylinder petrol engine with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 28 PS (21 kW) electric motor sandwiched in the middle; Total system power is rated at 136 PS. It has optional all-wheel drive, and with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, Alfa says it can travel on electric power more than 50 percent of the time, at speeds of up to 150 km/h.
