According to police, the two had an altercation in the street, and Karen is said to have drawn a gun at Andrew, who pulled out his own gun and shot her dead.
A January 9 recording of the incident shows Morales drawing a gun at Derr on the street in front of her Orange City home.
“You were the three men who followed me, you shouted at me,” Morales could hear shouting.
Before Morales could finish speaking, eight gunshots could be heard in the recording.
“She was trying to point a gun at me,” said one man.
A witness later told the 9-1-1 dispatcher, “The woman was shot. The guy on the bike shot her. He shot her in self-defense.”
