The clown still doesn’t seem to understand that no one in the world has been able to make carbon capture successful on a commercial scale, although he blames Britain is sabotaging its huge ambitions for carbon capture.
He also fails to realize that we don’t have any gas-fired power plants that could be fitted with carbon capture systems, even if they could be made operational. In other words, we would have to spend tens of billions of dollars building new CCGTs.
He also fails to recognise that CCS is extremely energy inefficient, requiring much more natural gas than a conventional gas power plant. It is puzzling that we would want to cut gas imports.
He also seems to fail to realise that electricity produced through CCS gas power plants is extremely expensive.
Please, the Telegraph, replace him with a more knowledgeable journalist.
