Welcome to my Cheltenham Festival 2022 tracker where I will keep a log of all my pre-card bets. We’re nearing the end of November and after the fun November Meetup at Cheltenham, the incredible Betfair Chase and a fantastic weekend at Fairyhouse and Newbury, we’re moving to Tingle Creek for the weekend.
I will have a pick for all my followers weekly and will only pick one horse per race. All my horses will be found at the end of my weekly posts. So let’s move on to my second pick and how this horse is priced with Boylesports is beyond me. The 20-1 offer is like a gift from heaven.
Festival Novices’ Chase (RSA)
Last season of The Stayers ‘The Fourth Hurdle Beacon Edge Couldn’t have been more impressive during Sunday’s Drinmore at Fairyhouse for coach Noel Meade. He was supposed to run well but the ride was short for him and the pitch was good so to win that race on a second start was extremely impressive.
Beacon Edge benefited from the leaders making mistakes late in the race, when his fitness became excessive after the second final. He jumped the last one really well and ran home to get to the nearest home. Apparently during the day he wants three miles, so it looks like all roads will lead to the Festival Newcomers’ Chase in March.
It’s hard to believe that Beacon Edge is still 20-1 with his performance at the weekend. He’s about the same price as Minella Drama but his form surpasses that runner by head and shoulders. The current favorite for the race is Galopin Des Champs who hasn’t seen the fence in public yet, but here we have a classy hurdler who is a Class 1 winner crossing the fence at a fraction of the price. four times that athlete. It is not always possible to make a bit of value in the pre-traded market these days but I think they are wrong here.
