By Acura version of Honda’s General-based electric motor intersection will inaugurate the ADX nameplate, according to a recent report. While nothing is official, the US Patent and Trademark Office recently granted the Japanese company the rights to the name.
Discovered Car hybrid, the Brand the application has submit by Honda on December 22, 2021 and approved three days later. Nothing suggests it’s for Honda, but a model called the ADX would neatly fold into the Acura range, which includes MDX and RDX.
The application raises more questions than it answers. What is Acura ADX? One possibility is that the nameplate could appear on the Acura version of Honda’s Prologue, which will launch in the 2024 model year. It will be based on a platform designed by GM and it will be powered by the same Ultium. the battery technology is found under Cadillac Lyriq, among other EVs. We know it will also spawn an Acura.
It’s important to note that nothing on the record mentions an electric powertrain. Acura’s range includes just two crossovers, well below the industry average (Lexus there are five crossovers and SUVs; also Lincoln there are four) so the ADX name could end with a non-electrical addition to the range. The lineup can develop in a number of directions and in many ways agency asking for people with larger and smaller movements.
As we’ve said before, filing for a patent or trademark is not a guarantee that a feature or nameplate will see the light waiting at the end of the production line. Automakers regularly protect their intellectual property to ensure that it doesn’t fall into the hands of competitors. While there’s no such thing as an Acura ADX – at least not yet – the name fits the company’s naming system. Imagine the confusion that would ensue, such as Lexus releasing a crossover called the ADX aimed directly at Acura MDX Type S 355 hp.
Acura did not comment on the report, nor did it reveal what the Honda and General Motors-derived model will be called.
