Abraham Nova has heard cries of alarm from Emanuel Navarrete fans.
The current 126-pound WBO belt holder has proudly defended his title in brutal fashion, stopping seven of his last nine opponents since tearing the gold trophy from former star Isaac. Dogboe.
Yet despite their warnings and despite the harmful knockout power he possesses, the troubled Puerto Rican-born is still eager to face Navarrete next.
Nova said: “All his fans say he can beat me. “Then come and prove it, defeat me. Make it happen, show your fans that you can beat me. I want to see it.”
Nova’s bombastic annotation of Navarrete comes shortly after recording his own incredible performance. Acting as co-lead of current WBO light heavyweight champion Joe Smith Jr. this past weekend, Nova easily overcame and overtook William Encarnacion.
Though Encarnacion enjoyed sporadic moments in its success, Nova’s boxing prowess and, more importantly, strength, proved different. With just over a minute left in the eighth half, referee Benjy Esteves Jr had seen enough and benevolently stepped in to demand a halt to the one-sided action.
As Nova continues to cut through the rest of the competition, he believes he’s done more than enough to win Navarrete’s attention. Currently, the WBO title player is having an excellent track record in 2021. In the first half of the year, Navarrete defeated Christopher Diaz, scoring a knockout victory in the final round. The 27-year-old then went into the match against the candidate of the year against Joet Gonzalez, winning a pretty close unanimous decision.
Navarette’s promoter Bob Arum initially revealed that his 126-pound star’s likely next step would be to move into the featherweight superweight to fight for the WBC championship title Oscar Valdez. However, with Valdez about to face fellow £130 fellow Shakur Stevenson instead, Navarette has now been left without a dance partner.
As Nova continues to shout loudly at Navarette, he believes that both his overall skills, coupled with his physical size, make him an absolute nightmare for the relentless power puncher. .
“If he considers himself the best then come and hit me. I have skill, I have strength, I have IQ, I have size. I’m not the little guys you’re fighting. I have everything”.
