Abarth has revealed a new limited-production sports car, said to be a modern version of the Fiat-Abarth OT 1300 Group 4 race car from the 1960s.
There are only five examples of Abarth Classiche 1300 OT will be produced and it can already be ordered. It’s unclear how much each example costs.
This limited production retro sports car is built on limited production mechanicals. Abarth Classiche 1000 SP was first revealed in 2021, hence the origin Alfa Romeo 4C.
The Italian automaker does not yet have detailed specifications for the 1300 OT, although the related 1000 SP is also equipped with the same engine. Mid-mounted 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine like the Alfa Romeo 4C, created 177kW power and 450Nm of torque.
It is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission with drive sent to the rear wheels only.
Abarth has confirmed that the 1300 OT’s body is made entirely of carbon fiber.
In terms of design, it has “winding curves” with countless air intakes dedicated to cooling.
The iconic “periscope” of the classic 1960s racing car has been recreated in this new limited-production sports car in the form of a roof-mounted air intake.
At the rear there’s a slotted plexiglass rear window as well as a large rear grille with ‘Abarth’ lettering.
“The Abarth Classiche 1300 OT represents the most authentic and authentic way to celebrate an epic car that remains in the hearts of all true enthusiasts of the Abarth brand worldwide,” the company said in the press release.
The original 1965 Fiat-Abarth OT 1300 race car was derived from the “efficient engineering” of the Fiat 850. It had a “periscope” air intake to cool the cabin.
During racing, the car took victories at the Nürburgring, Monza and Mugello.
