The new reference 5224R is a Calatrava model equipped with a Travel Time dual time zone function and a 24-hour display.
Debuting in a series of powerful launches, including the Grandmaster Chime decorated with high gems and the first annual calendar in the Aquanaut Luce collection (to be covered in upcoming posts), the This latest iteration of Patek Philippe’s Travel Time dual time display is paired with an original that displays local and home time through two central hands revolving 24 hours.

But for the new watch, Patek Philippe changed the original design. Instead of placing the noon hour indicator at the more traditional 6 o’clock position, Patek Philippe chose to update (and, for many, simplify) the display by placing noon at the top of the dial, where it appears as many wearers will look more when checking the watch. time.
For the sake of simplicity and aesthetics, Patek Philippe has also replaced the traditional crowns in the case for the local time with a new patented adjustment system that allows the user to withdraw the crown. go out.

To realize these new features, Patek Philippe has built a new caliber 31-260 PS FUS 24H movement. The movement is an update to Patek Philippe’s 31-260 ultra-thin self-winding base movement from 2011, which includes a 24-hour and Time-traveling mechanism.
In 2021, Patek Philippe further enhanced the original caliber (later included in the In-Line Perpetual Calendar Reference 5236P-001) with a new operating frequency of 4 Hz, barrel spring torque increased by 20 %, a small platinum rotor, and a reduction wheel that disconnects the self-winding mechanism while the watch is being manually wound.
The clock The 42mm-diameter rose gold case nicely complements the sharp-looking blue dial that Patek Philippe has designed with its modern, high-emboss rose gold numerals, hour markers and five-minute cabochon.
The watch is also notable for its extensive use of luminous material in rose gold syringe metals, hour markers and numerals.

Patek Philippe also updated the Calatrava 6007G-001, 6007G-010 and 6007G-011 models with a new modern dial style featuring a black dial and three finishes with embossed carbon pattern.

Patek Philippe is also expanding its range of women’s watches with the new Calatrava Reference 4997/200R-001, a rose gold, diamond-set watch ($38,441) now featuring a rich purple wave pattern dial accented created by fifty layers of matte lacquer. .
