A Beginner’s Guide to Editing in Lightroom

Most newer photographers will start their editing journey in Lightroom rather than Photoshop, and even as you become more advanced you will find that you can still do a lot or even more. Even with most of your edits in the former, just use the latter for really complex post-processing tasks. If you’re a beginner and want to understand how the various editing functions in Lightroom work, check out this great video tutorial that will get you up and running in no time.

Coming to you from Anthony MorgantiThis awesome video tutorial will show you the basics of photo editing with Lightroom. If you’re new to post-processing, the most important thing to remember is to use a lighter touch than you think. It’s tempting to rotate the sliders as saturation and contrast increase, but this can often result in photos looking too artificial or garish. It’s easy to get a bit of tunnel vision during editing, so one of the best habits you can adopt is to step away from your computer when you’ve finished a set of images, for the eyes. give you a few minutes to reset, then go back to the batch evaluation again before you export them. You’ll often find that you’ll want to roll back things a bit at that point. Check out the video above for a full rundown from Morganti.
