Ronald Ellis prepares for test in South Africa
RONALD Ellis will travel to Johannesburg, South Africa on September 28 to take on Patrick Mukala on Seconds Out Promotions’ Genesis show. Ellis wants to avoid being a measuring stick for the stars, he has the talent and experience to cause his Congolese opponent problems.
Nicknamed ‘Relentless’ in some quarters, Ellis, 34, has fought the likes of David Benavidez, Christian Mbilli and Erik Bazinyan. Currently on a three-fight losing streak, Ellis has wins over Immanuwel Aleem, Christopher Brooker and a win over Matt Korobov despite being injured.
The Genesis Re-Awakening event will also feature entertainment, making it a multi-faceted celebration of African identity and excellence. The main event features Patrick ‘The Panther’ Mukala (15-2-1, 14 KOs), a knockout fighter on the verge of breaking into the middleweight division, and a seasoned veteran in the prime of his career, Ronald ‘Akeem’ Ellis (18-4-2, 12 KOs), who recently joined the legendary Freddie Roach at Wildcard Gym.
According to organizers, “This match will be a spectacular clash of styles—thunder and lightning—that captures the essence of Genesis.”
