GWM Haval H6 Hybrid opens bookings in Malaysia – SUV expected to launch in Q3, estimated price RM145k

Last month, Great Wall Motor Malaysia announced that Haval H6 Hybrid has been set to enter the market in the third quarterreiterates what was said about the SUV’s launch in May. Now, ahead of its launch, the company has opened the order books for the hybrid, with an estimated price tag expected to be around RM145,000.

When launched, the SUV will be GWM’s first CKD vehicle in Malaysia, locally assembled by EPMB in Melaka. It was first previewed in local specifications via Briefing session in China Earlier this year, the H6 was first unveiled to the public at the Malaysia Motor Show, with full specifications and equipment.

Two variants will be offered in our market, a standard model and a high-spec model. Both feature the same hybrid powertrain, consisting of a 150PS/230Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a 177PS/300Nm electric motor, the latter integrated into a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).

During operation, the electric motor provides the primary means of propulsion, with the engine operating at higher speeds; the system will select which to use depending on the situation. The total system output is 243 PS (240 hp or 179 kW) and 530 Nm.

Exterior features include a “Star Matrix” grille flanked by Matrix LED headlights, which both variants get. The wheels provide the main clue as to which is which, with the base H6 getting 18-inch two-tone alloys, while the higher-spec variant gets 19-inch gloss black units.

Inside, the differences are much more noticeable, as the lower-spec version gets a black leather interior with white stitching and silver trim, while the higher-spec version gets a black and white interior with rose gold trim.

Otherwise, save yourself a few bucks, both trims are similarly equipped. Both get the same level of tech, led by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. The H6 also gets dual-zone climate control, rear air vents, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power liftgate, a Qi wireless charger, and an eight-speaker sound system.

The top-spec model adds a panoramic glass sunroof, a head-up display and a ‘master’ shoulder switch on the front passenger seat. In terms of safety and driver assistance kit, the list includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a parking assist system and an ADAS suite that offers items such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), full-speed adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, rear cross-traffic alert and lane change assist.

The announcement also mentioned that those who book early for the SUV will be able to unlock RM3,000 worth of exclusive value with a booking fee of RM1,000. The company said the Haval H6 Hybrid will come with a 10-year or 1,000,000km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 1,000,000km powertrain warranty (whichever comes first) for the HEV system, including the Dedicated Hybrid Powertrain (DHT), battery and high-voltage cables, and the powertrain controller.

Before the official launch, the company will hold a series of car introductions to introduce this SUV model in advance this month, with specific locations and times as follows:
