Piala Sultan Selangor vs Singapore, Stadium Merdeka, 17/8 – LRT, MRT, Monorail extended to 12:30

Traditional football rivals Selangor and Singapore will face off in the Sultan of Selangor Cup (Piala Sultan Selangor) tomorrow night. To make the 18th edition even more special, the match will be held at Stadium Merdeka instead of the currently demolished Shah Alam Stadium.

The last time both teams played in the Sultan of Selangor Cup – established in 2001 – was in 2019, when the Red Giants beat Singapore 1-0 to lift the trophy for the ninth time. The 2022 edition was cancelled due to the pandemic and the suspension has been extended until now. Tomorrow, the veterans’ match will kick off at 8pm, while the selection match will start at 9pm.

As usual for big football matches, Rapid KL will cater to fans with extended opening hours. The nearest train stations to Stadium Merdeka are MRT Merdeka, LRT Hang Tuah and Monorail Maharajalela and Hang Tuah stations. Train services will be extended until 12:30am and stations that will remain open are Monorail Maharajalela, MRT Merdeka, MRT Titiwangsa, LRT Hang Tuah, LRT Pasar Seni and LRT KL Sentral.

All connecting stations will also have extended opening hours. Rapid KL reminds passengers to use their Touch n Go cards and ensure they have sufficient funds.
