We are here today to discuss first world pain.

more technically incorrect

It’s not like many other pains.

It has a more subtle quality, seeping into thoroughly washed pores and hovering over already stressed nerves.

In recent months, one of the pains of the first world has been irritating recently regular flyer.

Most of all, those who fly regularly on Delta Air Lines.

Since the pandemic began to subside and customers began flying frequently for business and pleasure — sometimes at the same time — Delta has encountered an ever more annoying problem.

Its customers are keen to use its fine Sky Clubs. To relax, you know, and to separate yourself from less clean things.

That looks worse for Delta because it suddenly has too many passengers — among them American Express Platinum cardholders — eligible beneficiaries. The queues became long and sluggish.

Delta restricts access to people with flights three hours or less after entry. It tried to create two lanesdivide those who really deserve immediate access to those who may be a little less qualified.

However, this does not seem to be enough.

Aviation Observer’s Report that the airline now has another idea to divide and conquer. You will need to focus on the nuances.

If you’re an elite Delta passenger, you can now be denied access to Sky Club lounges if you’re only flying economy or Comfort+. Long way, that is.

Complicated isn’t it? You could have just flown in, forgotten what class you were in, and lined up for a lounge, only to be told that your crane’s cut no longer causes a scratch.

Worse, many customers were actually paying – that is, paying extra – specifically for a Sky Club membership. They may not even be allowed in. You might think this is trivia, but a Sky Club Executive Membership is $845.

I should add that Delta’s final announcement of all these changes had a few tweaks to it.

The guy who scored there is a detailed summaryA job that requires great concentration.

How about this one? From January, only Medallion elite members can purchase Sky Club memberships. And costs? Watch this. The normal membership is currently $695, but the aforementioned executive membership is, oh, $1,495.

Lord.

You may wonder if Delta is being offensive or even condescending. You may also wonder why the airline would consider such moves.

Well, it seems Delta is most unhappy with the bad publicity caused by its long queues. It was strange, because the long lines did wonders to polish the image of apple store.

One can understand Delta’s desperation, while contemplating that the airline may have foreseen this coming. Because it created the problem in the first place.

If you allow large numbers of the world’s flying population to access your (supposedly) exclusive club — especially those of your SkyTeam alliance — how can you Can you tell them no, they are no longer welcome?

And how can you tell those venerable American Express Platinum members — the ones paying $750 for the card and its perks — that their card isn’t as powerful as they think it is?

It seems that Delta simply chose to offend a lot of the middle class — the aspirants, the frugal, the daredevils. Indeed, is there anything worse than promising some benefit and then taking it away, just like that?

Perhaps the only final solution is to be extremely draconian. Limit it to a very, very, very elite few and leave everyone else wondering what goes on behind your opaque doors. Dance troupe? Exclusive star show?

Oh, and pay back existing Sky Club members.

It seems Delta is aiming to completely redefine exclusivity.

This can leave a frequent passenger or two wondering: Is it really worth it?
