India’s 5G speeds in test networks were initially revealed. Much faster than 4G LTE networks, but still not reaching full speed.
5G is already available in India and now, the leading mobile service providers in India are testing their 5G networks as part of a public beta test. Airtel has rolled out its 5G services in several cities while Jio is conducting speed tests of its 5G services in several cities. Both operators promise Gbps speeds but in the early stages the speeds were much lower than anticipated. Based on Ookla’s research done on 5G test networks from these operators, we have a reasonable idea of the speeds we should expect when 5G is widely available.
The report talk about average 5G speeds that both of these operators can sustain right now. With Jio and Airtel as the only operators offering 5G, it is Reliance Jio that dominates with significantly increased overall speeds across most cities. Jio’s average and average download speed is much higher than Airtel’s network.

As network coverage improves, 5G speeds are expected to improve in the coming months. Additionally, many smartphone manufacturers are expected to release support for 5G networks in the coming months. Apple It is expected to enable 5G reception on iPhone 12 and newer models in December 2022, and the same is expected on Google’s Pixel 5G devices. Some devices from SAMSUNG, Xiaomi, Myself, Oppo and Vivo already supports 5G services.
