The Equestrian Integrity and Safety Authority has reminded all riders that January 1, 2023 is the deadline for all required vaccines and testing to be recorded on the HISA portal for All horses are insured.
On this date, HISA will begin to enforce the regulation. As required by HISA Rule 2134, a horse will not be racing if vaccines and tests are not listed in the horse’s health record or are not up to date. Along with the Certificate of Veterinary Examination and Coggins testing, the required vaccines are encephalitis, rabies, tetanus, influenza, and rhinitis.
If a health certificate is filed for horses at a licensed racecourse or training center and then transported directly to another licensed facility in the same state, it is not required to provide other health certificate. However, if horses are transported from a licensed racecourse or training center to an unlicensed facility or ranch between races or leaving the state between races, a certificate must be presented. health.
The following requirements must be met for each test and vaccine to enter the race.
Certificate of Veterinary Examination: 5 days or less before entering the race
check coggins: Coggins test for infectious anemia in horses was negative
encephalitis vaccine: Within the previous 12 months
Rabies vaccine: Within the previous 12 months
Tetanus vaccine: Within the previous 12 months
Flu vaccine: Within the previous 180 days or earlier if high-risk situations occur
