2023 BMW R 1250 R | Rate first look
Building on the success of BMW’s naked boxer roadster history, starting with the 1923 494cc boxer-Twin powered by the R 32 engine, BMW Motorrad is introducing the updated BMW R 1250 R roadster 2023.
While many things remain the same, including the 1,254cc liquid-cooled, 2-cylinder boxer engine with ShiftCam technology that delivers 136 hp and 105 ft of torque. -lbs, BMW has made several upgrades for the 2023 model – and all for the same $14,995 MSRP as the 2022 model.

Several features that were previously optional are now standard, including Dynamic Traction Control, ABS Pro (an integral part) and Dynamic Brake Control. And joining the previous road and rain modes for 2023 is the “Eco” mode.
In Eco mode, drivers are encouraged to ride as fuel-efficiently as possible, with soft throttle curves and moderate engine torque limits. As part of these efforts, color TFT displays provide an efficient display. However, if the driver wants maximum performance – for example, to pass or go uphill – the ride mode button switches to another mode quickly and easily.
Other new features of the BMW R 1250 R 2023 include LED turn signals, a rear cover for the solo seats and new Option 719 5-spoke wheels (optional).
The 2023 model still has full LED headlights but now adds optional adaptive turn lights that provide better illumination at turns, thus ensuring safer driving at night. The adaptive turn signals work by turning on additional LED elements in the main headlights equipped with separate reflectors, depending on the angle of inclination. It is activated from an incline position from 7 degrees to 25 degrees and speeds over 6 mph. New standard features also include redesigned Comfort LED turn lights.
Fit for 2022, anti-slip clutch/assist, Hill Start Control, BMW Motorrad Paralever front suspension with 45mm upside-down fork and rear spring/shock with adjustable preload and rebound and Cruise-dependent damping (WAD) is still standard.
The optional Premium package includes Keyless Ride, Design Option rear muffler, chrome exhaust, heated grips, TPM Tire Pressure Monitor and cruise control. There are many 719 Optional Billet Packs available, as well as many individual options.
The BMW R 1250 R 2023 starts at $14,995. In standard trim, the R 1250 R is finished in a non-metallic color Ice Gray combined with a black frame. With the optional Triple Black and Style Sport variants, owners can choose from two matching color combinations.
The Style Sport variant (see lead photo of the story) features Racing Blue Metallic body color, white frame, yellow front/rear brake calipers, black sport handlebars, blue front spoiler and visor behind the solo or passenger seat.
The Triple Black variant comes in Black Storm Metallic body color, Agate Gray frame, gold front/rear brake calipers, stainless steel grille, stainless steel engine spoiler, and refined fuel tank trim. and rear cover for solo or passenger seats.
