Isle of Skye and Wester Ross: Man dead and three others injured after gun incident, Police Scotland say | UK News
A 47-year-old man has died and three people have been injured following a series of incidents in which a gun was discharged on the Isle of Skye and Wester Ross, Scotland, police said.
Police were first called to the Tarskavaig area in Skye shortly before 9am after reports of a 32-year-old woman being seriously injured at a property.
She was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.
Another incident at a property in the Teangue area of Skye was reported just after 9.30am after a gun was fired.
Officers and emergency services were on the scene, but a 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were later at a property in the Dornie area of Wester Ross following a subsequent shooting at a property.
A man was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment with serious injuries, and a woman was taken to Broadford Hospital.
Police have arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with all of the incidents, they are being considered related.
He was taken to Raigmore Hospital.
The investigation into the incidents is being led by Police Scotland’s Main Investigation Team, which supports local officers.
Superintendent Conrad Trickett, local police commander for the Highlands and Islands Division, said: “Thankfully incidents like this are extremely rare but I understand this will have a significant impact on local communities in these rural areas.
“I would like to reassure everyone that we are dealing with these incidents as under control and without a broader threat to the public.
“There will be a significant police presence in the area in the coming days and we will be working with our partners to support the local community. I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation throughout the process. our investigation.”
