Andy Ruiz Jr looks fierce and unrecognizable before Luis Ortiz’s fight
Andy Ruiz Jr will make his first appearance in 2022 on September 4 at Crypto.com Arena in LA against Luis Ortiz. Beating the 43-year-old will help the Mexican continue his dream of becoming a two-time world champion.
Ruiz shocked the world in June 2019 when he defeated Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden to become the world’s first Mexican heavyweight champion.
The 32-year-old suffered a crushing defeat in his rematch against Brit and lost in a widely decisive goal.
Ruiz is currently training with Alfredo Osuna after parting ways with highly regarded coach Eddy Reynoso. He returned to the ring with a tough decisive victory over fellow Mexican-American Chris Arreola last May.
The 32-year-old seems to have regained his momentum and clips are starting to shoot Ruiz being trimmed looking as sharp and aggressive as ever:

Although Mexicans do not look past Ortiz he told FightHype that he wants Deontay Wilder next if he raises his hand:
“If I win, I want to fight [Deontay] Wilder if he’s going to retire.”
Ortiz (33-2, 28 KOs) has won two straight games against Alexander Flores and Charles Martin, since a rematch defeat to Deontay Wilder in November 2019. The Cuban has been ordered to face Filip Hrgovic in the IBF final elimination match after his win over Martin on 1 January but suffered a hand injury that prevented him from facing Croat.
A win for either of them would put them back in the world title competition, while a loss would certainly raise the question of retirement.
