CFMOTO 450SR parallel sports on the road
CFMOTO 450SR
CFMOTO has wrapped up a new CFMOTO 450SR model that looks very sporty and has told us it could be expected to arrive in Australia later this year.
With a claimed wet weight of 168 kg, the 450 cc liquid-cooled parallel twin will shift gears quickly enough to keep most learner-legal machines.
While its LAMS eligibility is yet to be officially certified, by our calculations, given the 90 kg allowance for driver and fuel, it should just be scrapped. If not, I’m sure the importer Mojo motorcycles there would be no problem in tuning the tune to halve the neddy to get that certification, if that ends up being required.
Pricing for the 37 kW (49.6 hp) 450 SR will be announced closer to its Q4 release date, but knowing CFMOTO we can assume it will be quite competitive.
CFMOTO promises performance comfort and will no doubt market this machine on the back of KTM that has provided entries to the Moto3 and Moto2 World Championships.
There are still less subtleties to be found at the moment, so we can’t be sure if this engine is a downsized version of KTM’s very innovative 799cc LC8c duo that made its first mission on the 790. Duke or not, or is it an all-new engine designed in-house. by their own CFMOTO.
The standard seat height is 795 mm but can be lowered to 785 or raised to 815 mm through various seat options.
The five-inch TFT display is sure to prove an appealing feature to younger buyers, as will be a MotoGP-style wing.
The fuel capacity of 14 liters is quite generous as well as the ABS system and Bosch’s sliding clutch.
However, the question for many, considering this engine breathes through a quick-release air filter and relatively light weight, ‘is when the adventure variant will appear…?’
