My jaguar studies at the junkyard mainly focused on four-wheeled cats from the 1960s to 1980s, but More recent Jags can be found in U-Pull-style yards across the continent. Of today Junkyard Gems popped up at a Northern California vineyard last summer, and it has stories to tell.
Once Ford take over Jaguar in 1990, the idea of a midsize Jaguar pickup truck to steal sales from BMW E39 5 Series and Lexus GS seemed more and more like a good idea, and so a name used on the mid-1960s version of Jaguar Mark 2 has been resurrected for use on a car built on the same platform as Lincoln LS. Both New S-Type and the LS came out in the 1999 model year and both are pretty easy to find in your locale Ewe Pullet today.
S-Type buyers in the US can choose between a 3.0-liter V6 and a variety of V8s (including a 400-horsepower supercharged V8 in CHEAP S-Type). This car has a V6 engine, based on Duratec out of Taurus and makes 281 horsepower.
In theory, the American S-Type (and Lincoln LS) buyers can get a five-speed manual transmission on 1999-2003 V6 powered cars… but I’ve never seen a three-pedal S-Type/LS, and I looked. hard. As you’d expect, S-Type buyers in Europe can get both a manual and diesel oil The car’s 1999-2007 production engine. This car has a six-speed ZF transmission.
The interior seems to have been in good condition when show car here, and the original manual is still in the car.
Some of the wood trim has cracked a bit in the California sun during the car’s two decades on the road.
That sure looks a lot like a Kia Amanti nose, right? The Amanti appeared a few years later and showed the powerful S-Type (and E-Class) affect the style.
