Instagram has its perks. One of them is the social communities that you quickly become a part of — through your profession or hobby — and through which friendships are made. Creative journalist and consultant Kelly Talamas is one of the coolest and coolest friends I’ve made on social media. Honestly, I can’t pinpoint how we first interacted on Instagram, but we connected and clicked. Kelly and I both work in the fashion editorial space, we’re both first-time moms, we’re both Latino (her mother is from Cuba, and my mother is from Paraguay), and both We both have a real pride and passion for Latin American culture, fashion and people.
In reality, Kelly is my best friend when it comes to all things Latin American fashion. At just 28 years old, Kelly became the editor-in-chief of Vogue Mexico and Latin Americaand through this role, she became a pioneer in introducing Latin America and drawing international attention to her creative talent. She calls the three Latin capitals home — Mexico City, Bogotá, and Panama City — and currently advises a wide range of clients, including Chanel, Silvia Tcherassi and Polo Ralph Lauren. Last year, she debuted Latina platform that highlights the talent and diversity of the region through its advertisements.
