By far the most common mistake I see new photographers make is over-editing their photos. Especially with today’s powerful software, it’s easier than ever to quickly get a photo past the point of reasonable editing. Try modifying the aspect of conservatism while you are working on developing your eye. A simple way to combat the tendency to over-edit is to step away from the computer for a minute or two when you’re done working, then go back and evaluate your images again before exporting them.
