“The problem with a signature scent is that no one can pick it up for you. I can point you in the right direction, but when it comes to it, you have to figure out what you’re up to. You don’t know until it comes down to it. you know, but when you find it, you know. My job is a lot about fragrance, so I’ve been writing and thinking about scents all week, and I basically have to try everything. three, but when it comes to it, my signature scent has to be Cloud by Ariana Grande. No, I mean it. Let me explain.
‘This dropped in 2018 and it’s quickly becoming a favorite and one of the best-kept beauty secrets. Cloud is a fun, exciting, completely unique scent that offers as much of an experience as a fragrance. I know what people say about celebrity scents, but listen, some of them are really good, and this scent is great. Cloud opens with lavender, bergamot and pear, giving way to vanilla orchid, praline, coconut and whipped cream, finally settling on wood and musk. It plays with sweetness in a really interesting way because, yes, it’s sweet and it doesn’t offer apologies, but it’s vague and almost muted. Pear, coconut, whipped cream all come together to create a distinct yet mellow sweetness, yet tempered by vague lavender, woody and musky notes. It’s a push and pull, perfectly balanced and lovely to wear.
‘I always say, which my friends scoff at, that the Cloud smells like charged air. You know how thick and dense the air feels before a storm? Like that. It feels like big clouds, fluffy like whipped cream, wet concrete, morning dew and feels like cotton candy when it melts on your tongue. And don’t get me wrong. This scent is not for minors, it’s very mature indeed. I wear it all the time, and someone always stops me to ask what I’m wearing. It’s one of my absolute favorites and I always come back to it. ‘”
