48 hours with Chase Sapphire Reserve

Chase Sapphire Reserve is Chase’s premium travel rewards card, offering a wealth of perks and benefits that make it the choice of many travelers. In addition to a $300 annual travel credit, the card also offers a higher rate of return across multiple purchases, extensive travel protection, and more Valuable buyback options.

I had the opportunity to put the pass to the test on a recent trip to Seattle, where I booked flights and car rentals through Chase Travel and my hotels through the Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection. I enjoyed an enhanced airport experience and also attended an exclusive, private dining event at Tomo Seattle hosted by Chase and The Infatuation, the latest dinner in a new series called The Hit List.

In fact, the card helped me maximize my entire trip.

Here are my 48 hours with the Chase Sapphire Reserve – and why you should consider adding the card to your wallet today.

Before I begin my travel and dining experience, here’s a quick update on the perks offered on Chase Sapphire Reserve.

You can redeem your points for travel with transferred to one of more than a dozen travel partners including Southwest, United Airlines and Hyatt. Or, you can redeem them for 1.5 cents per pass Chase’s reward portal. In addition, you can also redeem points for Chase Dining purchases, including takeout.

I had never been to Seattle before, so I knew I wanted a car to get around instead of relying on car-sharing apps. Therefore, I also booked a car rental through Chase Travel. By charging $120.65 worth of purchases to my Sapphire Reserve, I earned 10 points for every dollar spent – 20% profit based on Valuation of TPG. I look forward to saving those rewards for the upcoming trip.

Using my Sapphire Reserve for rental cars has another benefit: It automatically activates the card’s primary rental car coverage. Thankfully, there was no problem with my rental, but if I experience any collision damage or theft, I will be able to file a claim for unexpected expenses. that – without reporting it to my personal car insurance provider.

Priority lounge (and restaurant) access

My trip got off to a great start thanks to Sapphire Reserve and the enhanced airport experience it offers. I used this card to pay the Global Entry fee and received a $100 credit to cover a five-year membership. And since this included TSA Pre-Check, I passed security – which gave me some time to kill before boarding.

Thankfully, the card offers a complimentary Priority Pass Select membership, which gives cardholders unlimited access to more than 1,300 lounges around the world. Just note that you must activate this privilege through the card benefits section of your online account.

In San Francisco, Sapphire Reserve cardholders have the option to visit an Air France-KLM Lounge or a British Airways Lounge before their flight. Both are in International Terminal A, a short walk from Terminal 2 (where my flight departed). It’s worth noting that the British Airways Lounge is only open until 11:30am for Priority Pass members, but I was able to get in quickly to get some work done.

One of the great things about the Sapphire Reserve Preferred Card membership is that it also includes credit for some airport restaurants – something Not offered on all premium cards. By presenting your Priority Pass card, you can get up to $28 off your bill at more than two dozen restaurants in airports across the country (plus $28 if you’re dining out with a friend). companion).

I used this privilege at one of my favorite restaurants, Lark Creek Grill in Terminal 2, before boarding my flight to Seattle.

My stay at The Edgewater Hotel

As noted earlier, I booked my stay through Chase’s Luxury Hotels and Resorts Collection. The group has more than 1,000 luxury properties globally, and access to the booking site and its perks is limited to select Chase cardholders – including the Chase Sapphire Reserve. For this trip, I booked a two-night stay at The Edgewater Hotel, Seattle’s only overwater hotel. A Noble House Hotel, it offers both city and waterfront rooms, gas fireplaces in every room, and an excellent restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. But the attractive room and the stunning view are not the only reasons why I stayed here.

Since I booked through LHRC I received a credit of $30 per day for breakfast, which I can use in the restaurant or for room service. I also get a $100 resort credit, which is perfect for dinner the first night of my vacation.

It’s even within walking distance of Bell Street Marina at Pier 66, used by Norwegian, Celebrity and Oceania cruise lines for Alaska cruises.

The hotel is great and I highly recommend to stay. But I came to Seattle specifically to attend the Chase Dining event co-hosted by The Infatuation at Tomo Seattle as part of their recently launched dinner series called List of popular songs.

James Beard Award-winning Chef Brady Ishiwata Williams Leads the Year Tomo Seattle, where he serves a nightly five-course meal designed around the availability of fresh, in-season food. On the night I visited, each dish was paired with signature wines sourced from Eastern Europe.

This event is only for Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers, and it’s the fifth dinner this year across the country. Even if you are unable to attend one of the events, reservations at participating restaurants are held and made available to you afterwards. More events are underway, with Austin and Miami expected to host upcoming Hit List dinners.
