On the road again
I might not buy a lot of merchandise from Good Smile Company these days, but showing up to see which video game characters have been immortalized as stylish characters is a fun pastime. How will they be rendered in Nendoroid form, and what are the accessories? I like to tease. In the case of this 30th Anniversary Nendoroid Kirby, it’s all about the face.

Nendoroid Kirby: 30 Anniversary Edition comes with accessories as a binding (the legend of Kirby the series never stops surprising me), a sweet potato, a heart, and a Star Rod.
You can also make faces – Kirby’s star eyes are a good default, but there are also “spiral eyes”, “confusion face” and my favorite, “classic face”. Kirby looks so determined! Much as Pikachu chubby, it’s fun to reflect on how character design has changed over the years. Come to think of it, the smile on Kirby’s retro face reminds me of a Mii.

30 years of pleasant background
In August, Kirby The series will continue the celebration with a anniversary concert at the Tokyo Garden Theater. It’s been a long and pleasant journey in general, isn’t it?
The amazing year 1996 Kirby Super Star and this year Kirby and the Forgotten Land at the top of my list. (It’s true that I missed out on a lot, but it’s hard to imagine anything else that resonates with me at this level; both games are a “right place, right time” deal.)
