23 Abandoned Dog Escapes Cramped House, Full of Manure

23 dogs excited about their new life after living in neglected, unsanitary conditions. Some reported severe abuse and neglect in the household, so officials stepped in and arrested the dogs. What they witnessed was one of the worst cases of neglect they had ever seen.

Despite being ignored by their owners, these dogs seem to be happy to see humans and eager to be loved. It will take some time for them to recover from the pain they have faced, but they will soon find wonderful new homes. It’s heartbreaking that anyone would be okay with dogs living in these conditions.

Horror house

Rescuers are calling a home in Aguascalientes, Mexico, one of the squalest and dirtiest environments they’ve encountered. The State Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROESPA), Amigos Pro Animalsand International Humanitarian Association (HSI) teamed up to save 23 dogs in the home after several individuals involved reported the situation.

Video footage of rescuers entering the home shows dogs heavily carpeted walking on a floor covered in feces. Many dogs are confined in small spaces without food or water. HSI doesn’t know how long the dogs have been left like that.

“These dogs have been left to fend for themselves in absolutely sweltering conditions, some of the worst I have ever seen. Their paws are red and painful from standing in their own feces, and many are dangerously thin and dehydrated. When we arrived, they were absolutely delighted to see us and yearning for attention,” said Felipe Márquez Muñoz, program manager for cruelty to animals at Humane Society International – Mexico.

The owners of the dogs voluntarily surrendered to them. All 23 dogs were placed in an emergency shelter sponsored by HSI Mexico.

The dogs deserve better

Now, the dogs are receiving emergency veterinary treatment. They are taking overdue showers and being assessed for temperament. When they are in good condition, they will be put into farming.

“If we hadn’t intervened, I was scared to think what would happen to them. Now they are receiving the care they desperately need and will have the opportunity to be adopted into loving families,” added Muñoz.

Sadly, cases like this in Mexico are not uncommon. PROESPA records show that 65% of its reports involve animal abuse. Luckily, these dogs get a second chance at happiness, but if you see Animals face abandonment, report it. You can save those animals.
