2024 Mercedes EQE SUV revealed – including a spicy AMG version

Last month, we Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV model can be obtainedand find it doesn’t go far from the formula Mercedes pose with it EQS Sedan. It’s still quite luxurious, comfortable, quiet and full of technology, but it’s bigger and a bit more capable. Also, as an SUV, we suspect it will be quite a bit more popular than its sedan counterpart. Now, the German luxury brand is pursuing that with the year 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, is the logical and predictable next step in the implementation of the EQ product line. And, with the inclusion of 2024 Mercedes AMG EQE SUV, we think this is possibly the most interesting EQ model.

We were able to preview (no cameras allowed) the EQE SUV, including the AMG-Line styling and the full AMG version, directly at the EQS SUV driver, and is pleased to see the successful implementation of the evolution of the smaller EQS in the EQ lineup. Literally, Mercedes calls the EQE SUV a “multipurpose variant of the Executive sedan EQE. “And what we see here demonstrates that. We like the particularly sharp lines on the hood and the front light bar that connects the headlights. The side profile creates a tapered A-pillar and a coupe-like body-color ribbed in front of a black roof spoiler. There is no large, overhanging rear bumper, creating an almost cascading effect to the rear of the car.

Despite its similarities to the EQS Sedan, the EQS still has some surprises. To wit, its 119.3-inch wheelbase is actually 3.5 inches shorter than the Sedan. The EQE SUV is also 191.5 inches long overall (5.5 inches shorter than the Sedan), 66.4 inches tall and 76.4 inches wide. This helps create the short overhangs that make the EQE SUV look particularly agile.

Aerodynamics is an important part of the design, with a drag coefficient of around 0.26. If you look closely, you can see subtle recesses such as a small groove on the side of the taillights and a small flap in front of the rear wheel to help air circulate evenly throughout the car. Surprisingly, including the available running boards really helps to further improve the aero. Mercedes projects a WLTP range of about 342 miles from its 90.6 kilowatt hours the batteryalthough the United States EPA scope is not available.

The AMG EQE The SUV creates visual appeal with many beautiful details. We love the raised vertical lines on the AMG nose that help insert the grille that convincingly mimics the slats of the open-combustion AMG grille. Instead of a three-pointed star, the hood bears the AMG Affalterbach logo. Digital headlights are standard, and they project the Mercedes and AMG logos onto the wall when the car is off. From the sides we see larger wheel options – 21 to 22 inches, as opposed to 19 to 21 inches for the non-AMG model. We especially like the turbine spokes offered here, which hide the carbon ceramic front panel brake with paint caliper. While the standard EQE SUV has plastic cladding, the AMG has wheel arches in the same body color. At the rear, the AMG model actually has three oval horizontal stripes on the bottom corner of the rear apron, while the lower AMG-Line versions only have two.

Inside, the EQE SUV feels very similar to the EQE Sedan, except for the more upright seating. It gracefully blends traditional and novel materials, both natural and synthetic. NeoTex found in various places, like the armrests, is extremely soft. Mercedes describes it as a combination of “the look of nubuck leather and high-tech synthetic resin,” but it closely resembles the refined feel of seal fur. Other materials, such as artificial leather and aluminum inlaid wood, elevate the EQE SUV interior into a true space of art and luxury. Technology is at the forefront of course, and can make Highfalutin’ Hyperscreen to span the entire dash.

Mercedes hasn’t announced exactly what powertrain options will be available in the EQE SUV, but we can expect similar setups for the Sedan. These will include rear-wheel drive and dual-motor 4Matic all-wheel drive versions with different outputs. The EQE SUV door sill also has various levels of regenerative braking, from emergency braking to single-pedal steering, including an auto-adjust mode.

As for the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV, its front and rear engines will deliver a total of 617 hp, or up to 677 hp from the Boost function when equipped with the AMG Dynonic Plus Package. The AMG also features Race Start, which unleashes full power with a unique sound that radiates both inside and outside the vehicle. It will run 0-62 mph in about 3.5 seconds. The car also benefits from an AMG adaptive air suspension with damping technology borrowed from the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door, a lowered travel height setting for Sport and Sport+ modes, a bar active roll-over (and a 48-volt system was then required) to power it), and rear-wheel steering is standard.

Inside, the AMG EQE has four unique interiors to choose from, with artificial leather seats standard. The flat-bottomed, Nappa leather steering wheel has special controls for things like the audio experience and Dynamic Select mode. Hyperscreen features typical AMG graphics, including AMG performance indicators for the center display.

Seeing the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, which includes – or more specifically – the AMG version is an experience that photos just can’t do. We look forward to the opportunity to take the helm of the latest, perhaps greatest, product from the Mercedes EQ lineup.
