The name and design of Lamborghini Urus set Pikes Peak record was finally revealed. 2023 Lamborghini Urus Performante is the new flagship model that has improved aerodynamics, lighter weight, new suspension and a little extra power to get the measurements right. Together, the improvements make it the best performing Urus.
The design changes are subtle, but noticeable, which is ironic for what is arguably the least refined SUV on the market. The front bumper, hood and rear bumper have all been redesigned and have more features carbon fiber. The hood also has an air filter. A new front splitter and a rear wing have been added. The weight has dropped a pretty large 104 pounds total. The increased use of carbon fiber parts is part of that equation, and another is the standard Akrapovic titanium exhaust system. The Urus Performante drops standard SUVThe fixed steel spring air suspension has stiffer spring rates and lowers the SUV. It still has electronically adjustable dampers, four-wheel steering, rear torque vectoring, and multiple drive modes. Tuning above all this has been updated for the Performante and Rally mode has been added for comfortable driving on dirt roads. Horsepower from the twin-turbo V8 has also been bumped up a bit, to 657 hp (or 666 CV in European units) and 627 pound-feet of torque.
All of these changes allow the Urus Performante to hit 62 mph in 3.3 seconds, a 0.3 improvement over the regular model. Its top speed remains at 190 mph. So it’s a bit slower to 60 mph than a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, but has a higher top speed. And of course, it holds the Pikes Peak record for a production SUV at 10 minutes 32,064 seconds. The previous record holder was Bentley Bentayga Speed with a time of 10 minutes 49,902 seconds.
Lamborghini will start delivering the Urus Performantes later this year. Valuation do not have destinations start at $260,676.
