2023 Honda XL750 Transalp coming to Malaysia?

With a renaissance underway in the worldwide multi-purpose motorcycle market, some have questioned whether the 2023 Honda XL750 Transalp will arrive in Malaysia. The answer is yes, but it could be a year or so before this midsize multi-purpose trip reaches Malaysia.

Talking to paultan.org’s source at Boon Siew Honda yesterday during the Honda ADV160 2023 launch, we learned 2023 Honda XL750 Transalp going to Malaysia. This is pending tire approval and other market considerations, “but Transalp will launch before the first quarter of next year,” our source said.

XL750 Transalp join Honda CB500X and Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin in Boon Siew Honda’s adventure travel portfolio. Designed as an all-rounder, the Transalp features a liquid-cooled eight-valve tandem engine with a 270-degree crank and 755 cc SOHC.

Power reaches 90.5 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and maximum torque of 75 Nm at 7,500 rpm. Power goes through a six-speed gearbox equipped with slipper and clutch assist and chain final drive.

The suspension of the XL750 Transalp is done with Showa 43mm SFF-CA (Separate Function Fork-Cartridge) upside-down forks and a rear monoshock with adjustable preload. Transalp has 200 mm front and 190 mm suspension travel, 210 mm ground clearance.

As for the price, our source says it will cost “around RM70,000”. Can XL750 Transalp compete with Malaysia in the local market mainly in the form of Aprilia Tuareg 660 (RM75,900) while we are still waiting for news of the launch of Yamaha Tenere 700.
