2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio facelift – new 3+3 headlights, Competizione variant, NFT certification


Alfa Romeo has revealed the upgraded Giulia and Stelvio 2023, which will hit the market in the first quarter of next year. Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio First launched in 2016.

At the front, the new Giulia and Stelvio get not only new headlight graphics, but also a redesigned front bumper. The distinctive Trilobo grille has also been gently redesigned. Headlights now have 3 + 3 (as Alfa calls them) adaptive Matrix LED technology, inspired by Alfa Romeo TonaleProteo and SZ Zagato concept cars.

The headlights will also project a ‘welcome’ and ‘goodbye’ light sequence and are equipped with non-glare High Beam Segmentation technology to avoid blinding oncoming vehicles. At the rear, the taillight graphics on both models have been tweaked a bit to create a sharper and sleeker look.

While the Stelvio features new transparent lenses for the taillights, the Giulia features smoked lenses with a glossy black finish. For the new Giulia and Stelvio, there will be two trim levels – Sprint and Veloce. The former is an entry-level model while the Veloce features enhanced performance and sportiness.

With the launch of the Giulia and Stelvio facelift, Alfa Romeo is also introducing the Competizione line. It is based on Veloce trim and available with every engine option. The debut version sits at the top of the Giulia and Stelvio lineups and is distinguished by a Moon Light matte exterior color, complemented by red brake calipers.

Vehicles equipped with 21-inch wheels while the interior is supplemented with a Harman Kardon audio system, a leather dashboard and seats with red stitching. Also standard in the Competizione model are items such as privacy glass, Competizione badges, Alfa Active suspension and NFT certification.

Upgraded Alfa Romeo Stelvio

To keep up with the times, a non-fungible token (NFT) is also available whereby a certificate is generated based on vehicle age data. NFT certification helps to enhance the reputation and resale value of the vehicle when it is sold or purchased by the next owner.

New on the Giulia and Stelvio facelift is a 12.3-inch TFT digital instrument cluster display with three different layouts – Evolved, Relax and Heritage. The infotainment screen is also larger than before and features a Human Machine Interface (HMI) for more intuitive use.

The infotainment system works in tandem with optional Alfa Connect Services to deliver over-the-air (OTA) updates and My Remote features. The latter allows the owner to lock and unlock the doors and access other vehicle functions through a smartphone or smart watch.

Diesel engine options for Giulia may have been dropped as Alfa Romeo only highlighted the availability of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 280 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels.

For Stelvio, there will be two engine choices including a 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel with 210 hp (154 kW) and 470 Nm of torque and a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine- 2.0-liter cylinder with 280 hp (206 kW) and 400 Nm. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission to drive all four wheels.

As before, the Stelvio continues to feature Q4 all-wheel drive technology with an active transmission that monitors grip conditions and rider input in real time. If needed, the system can send the full power of the Stelvio to the rear wheels. Under certain driving conditions, it can deliver up to 50% power to the front wheels in less than 150 milliseconds for better traction.

The Q2 mechanical self-locking differential is available to pair with Stelvio’s Q4 all-wheel drive system or Giulia’s rear-wheel drive system. Facelift models are also equipped with double wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension and semi-virtual steering axle.
