18 of our favorite points hotels in Europe

Editor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers.

Some of Europe’s most incredible hotels cost hundreds of dollars per night. However, your dream hotel can be within reach, especially if it allows payments with points or miles instead of money.

From dreamy Mediterranean beach properties to cozy Nordic cabins and regal, stately palaces, here are some of the best points and miles hotels in Europe. Our top picks include everything from hot, new properties to classic favorites and everything in between.

Andaz Prague: Prague

ANDAZ PRAGUE/HYATT

This brand-new Hyatt property blends Czech design and art elements with modern features such as rotating televisions, backlit bathroom mirrors and massive windows. It’s the perfect luxury addition to Prague’s somewhat lacking hotel scene (many of the properties in the city feel dated). The Andaz Prague also features the Zem restaurant, which offers Czech-Japanese fusion cuisine, ideal for adventurous foodies.

Room rates start at 330 euros (about $350) or 25,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

Conrad Algarve: Almancil, Portugal

CONRAD ALGARVE/FACEBOOK

It’s hard to choose between the Algarve’s iconic Pine Cliffs property and the Conrad Algarve. However, the latter’s three pools, rejuvenating wellness program and myriad dining options (including the Michelin-starred Gusto by Heinz Beck) make it one of our top picks. Light streams into the coastal-chic rooms and suites, which are decked out in crisp whites, beachy beiges and soft blues. The Vale do Lobo Beach is exclusive to Conrad guests, though you’ll have to take a complimentary shuttle to reach it.

Room rates start at 193 euros ($204) or 53,000 Hilton Honors points per night, though rates can be significantly higher during the summer months.

Hotel Ranga: Hella, Iceland

HOTEL RANGA/FACEBOOK

Hotel Ranga may not be as flashy as some other properties on this list (though sleeping below the northern lights is technically flashy). However, this luxury log cabin located in Iceland’s Golden Circle has its own merits, especially for nature enthusiasts. It’s the only four-star resort in the country, featuring unique amenities such as geothermal outdoor hot tubs, skylights and telescopes from which you can view the northern lights.

Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam: Amsterdam

WALDORF ASTORIA AMSTERDAM/FACEBOOK

The Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam became one of the most desirable hotels in the city when it opened several years ago. Its facade perfectly fits its surroundings and maintains the characteristic architecture of other canalfront homes and businesses. The hotel has just 93 guest rooms and suites, giving it an exclusive, boutiquelike feel. Plus, it’s located near the city’s famous museums, parks and cultural sites.

Rates start at 800 euros ($847) or 100,000 Hilton Honors points per night. Some days, though, that rate skyrockets to thousands of euros or more than 500,000 points, so plan accordingly.

One of Barcelona’s top hotels, the Cotton House is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. It’s a modern and trendy space set in a historic neoclassical building; also, it’s just a short walk away from several of the city’s top attractions, including La Rambla, the Gothic Quarter and La Sagrada Familia cathedral. In reality, it’s just a 20-minute (complimentary) boat ride from St. Mark’s Square. Expect five-star amenities like beautifully designed rooms, a lavish spa, four restaurants, three bars and an outdoor picnic area with jaw-dropping views of the city’s iconic skyline rising from the lagoon.

 W Ibiza: Ibiza, Spain

W IBIZA/FACEBOOK

Perched near the quiet shores of Santa Eulalia, the W Ibiza is for travelers that want to revel in the island’s boho-chic ambiance. It’s close enough to Ibiza’s pulsating nightlife that guests can enjoy an evening of wild fun. However, it’s far enough removed that guests can have an entirely different type of vacation (think wellness and cuisine); the W’s adults-only Glow roof deck and funky, colorful decor are luxurious, whimsical and sexy enough to fit the island culture just right.

Rates start at 200 euros ($212) and 54,000 Marriott points per night. Note: These rates increase dramatically in the high season (the summer months). The hotel is open seasonally from April to the end of October.

Some even come with private hot tubs or pools. You can enjoy the best of Santorini’s high-end cuisine at Magma by Spondi, led by chef Arnaud Bignon.

Rates start at 200 euros ($212) or 25,000 Hyatt points per night. Note: The hotel is only open seasonally, from the beginning of April to the end of October.

The Shelbourne, Autograph Collection: Dublin

BARRY MURPHY/FACEBOOK

This Marriott hotel sits beside St. Stephen’s Green — a park and green space with more than 200 years of history. Guest rooms featured regal details such as 300-thread-count Egyptian sheets and marble bathrooms; suites have touches like historic chandeliers and memorabilia. (The iconic Princess Grace Suite was inspired by Grace Kelly.) Speaking of history, The Shelbourne also features the Horseshoe Bar, which once hosted famous acts like the Rolling Stones.

The hotel is spread across 15 acres on a hill above the city, giving it a relaxed resort feel that is unique compared to most other properties in Rome.
