The actress took a page out of her mother’s book and only bought items she knew would last. “I love the idea of taking good care of your clothes and letting them last a long time. Then you invest in clothes that are well made, have a good texture and fit you well,” she explains. .
While Deschanel keeps her clothes in excellent condition, she also organizes them in a way that makes sense to her.
“I like to sort things by color. It helps me find things. I’m very intuitive.”
When it comes to her wardrobe staples, one particular piece takes the reins. “I wear jumpsuits a lot. It’s my comfortable everyday wear,” admits Deschanel. She owns countless Jumpsuit from brands like Big Bud Press and Sea New York and loves to pair them with the best shoes she owns: Crocs.
As one of the company’s ambassadors, Deschanel owns both classic slides and even flat ballet versions. “They are the most comfortable shoes you can have.”
In addition to jumpsuits and comfortable shoes, Deschanel is also a huge fan of colorful dresses you can wear over and over from brands like Batsheva and Staud.
“I love flowers. I like prints. I like bright colors, but I also wear a lot of neutrals.”
When it comes to pants, if Deschanel loves a pair of trousers, she buys them in so many colors because she thinks it’s practical. The row of Jesse Kamm wide-leg pants in her wardrobe – the kind she wears several times a week – is no exception.
As for accessories, Deschanel takes a similar approach and buys well-made pieces that she will wear for years.
