Bhupat Seemar has been appointed coach at Zabeel Stables, Dubai Racing Club has announced.
Seemar’s very successful 2021/22 UAE racing season saw him pick up 47 winners.
Seemar, 45, has plenty of experience for the role. Originally from India, he trained in the US as an intern at Taylor Made Farms and also served as assistant to World Cup-winning coach Bob Baffert in Dubai.
Commenting on the appointment, Major General Specialist Dr. Mohammed Essa Al Adhab, Board Member and General Manager of Dubai Racing Club, said, “We are delighted to have appointed Bhupat Seemar as coach at Zabeel Stables, which has a great track record of enriching local racing. The perfect fit to maintain the track record of stability and take it to the next level.”
“I am honored to be a permanent coach at Zabeel Stables, where I have worked for nearly 20 years since coming from California,” said Bhupat Seemar. “I’m looking forward to the upcoming season as we have a great team behind us and some outstanding clients who have invested in some very good blood from around the world.”
Seemar’s championship season also saw him achieve group 1 success as Switzerland, owned by HH Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuami, won the Atlantis Dubai-sponsored Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1) in World Cup night. He also settled for his first Kentucky Derby (G1) runner when the Burke . family Summer is tomorrow traveled to Churchill Downs after his second place in the UAE Derby sponsored by Mubadala (G2).
Seemar’s experienced staff at the picturesque Zabeel Stables — the jewel in the crown of Dubai’s racing stables — include his wife Caroline, an integral member of the equestrian team, and Tadhg O’ Shea, the 10-time UAE Champion, is once again expected to be the steady jockey at Zabeel for the upcoming season.
The 2022-23 UAE racing season kicks off at Al Ain Racecourse on October 28, with the action moving on to the premier Meydan Circuit a week later, November 4. The 30th Dubai World Cup meeting, $5 million takes place on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
