India will play Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series, starting with the first in Harare on Thursday, August 18. On Tuesday, India’s vice-captain was appointed for the series. Shikhar Dhawan attended one of the pre-match press conferences, and answered a series of questions from various journalists. However, the veteran inaugural card player failed to grasp one of the questions, saying he couldn’t understand the reporter’s voice.

“Shikhar, it’s hard to play against a team like Zimbabwe at the moment… who have struggled for a long time. They haven’t even played much against the Indian team. Do you expect to beat one Teams like Zimbabwe don’t,” asked the reporter.

Dhawan was taken aback by the question and he replied, “Ah, I don’t understand. Can you repeat? I can’t understand your voice, sir.”

His reaction drew laughter from everyone present inside the press box.

Having grasped the question after the second question, Dhawan said that India playing Zimbabwe is good for the development of the sport.

“It’s good that they (Zimbabwe) won against Bangladesh. I’m sure they are playing good cricket. This is also good for us. It will make us try and we won’t belittle anyone. Whatever. We are here to perform. Regardless of team and time, we should focus on doing the right process to get the right result,” said Dhawan.
