Yinson GreenTech (YGT), through its joint venture company Green EV Charge, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PLUS Malaysia to jointly develop a super-powered charEV direct current fast charging (DCFC) hub first along the PLUS highway.

The MOU was signed by Yinson Holdings Group CEO Lim Chern Yuan and PLUS MD Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaafar. Also present at the signing ceremony were the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Works, Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad.

The country’s first fast charging center, where the outline is was first revealed at a YGT tech day last September, will be located at Seremban RSA (south facing). According to YGT, the hub will have eight charging bays, each with a Level 3 DCFC with an output power of up to 350 kW, allowing a suitable EV to be fully charged in just 20 minutes.

The specifics on the charger – and the payment rates – will come closer to the hub’s introduction, which is still a while away. According to Lim, the plan is to get the center up and running as soon as possible. He said some issues still need to be resolved, such as power supply to the site as well as land approval.

“We plan to deliver the center later this year and all parties are trying to speed up the process. Today is an important step in which all parties are ready to do it together,” he said in response to a question about timelines from this publication.

Although it wasn’t mentioned in the event, a slide image in the video presentation revealed the presence of a second EV super-powered DC hub, located at Ayer Keroh RSA (northbound). ). Both centers are expected to be operational by 2025.

As highlighted during last year’s tech day presentation and at today’s signing ceremony, the super-powered fast charging hub will look and function like a regular gas station, incorporating retail elements. such as food and beverage outlets and other amenities.

In related information, YGT also announced that it has upgraded 1 AC EV charging point to DC fast charging at the restaurant on Ayer Keroh Bridge (south direction). In addition, through the Memorandum of Understanding, the company will upgrade and provide 5 more DC fast chargers at RSA in Tapah (going south), Dengkil (going south), Gunung Semanggol (going north) ), Pagoh (going south) and Seremban (going north) this year as part of the expansion of the Energized EV charging network.
