Yamaha R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary Edition
Yamaha Motor Europe’s GYTR PRO Store Network is celebrating R1’s 25th anniversary by offering customers the opportunity to experience world championship performance parts, developed during Yamaha’s World Superbike and Endurance World Championship racing programs.
Designed by the same engineers at Yamaha Motor Research & Development Europe (YMRE), responsible for developing the world championship-winning R1 WorldSBK machine, the GYTR PRO series of performance parts is offered to casual bettors for the first time.
The range of GYTR PRO performance parts for R1 includes, but is not limited to, an ultra-strong and lightweight carbon rear subframe designed to accommodate both the modified fuel tank with lower center of gravity and the Magneti Marelli ECU.
Öhlins FGR front fork and TTX rear shock with pneumatic preload adjuster deliver more predictable handling and the same level of suspension tuning available to Yamaha’s professional road racers.
The lower swingarm, specially developed for Yamaha’s WorldSBK racing program, improves maximum pitch angle and rear grip, while front and rear Brembo brake units provide maximum stopping power.
The carbon fiber bodywork is super strong, lightweight, and designed with the display in mind for ultimate aerodynamic performance.
There is also the GYTR PRO Electronic System (GPES) module, the most advanced package for engine control and data acquisition developed by YMRE during WorldSBK and the FIM Endurance World Championship.
The GPES features driver assistance with the most up-to-date electronic software, such as anti-skid, launch control, engine brake management, adjustable fuel and traction control, and is offered with a ready-to-go base setting, providing an excellent starting point for perfecting the track.
Creating such a unique range of performance parts took years of development at the highest level, with Yamaha WorldSBK riders Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and Andrea Locatelli, along with test racer Niccolò Canepa, all playing a key role in the development.
Fittingly, Yamaha Ambassador and nine-time world champion, Valentino Rossi, was presented with an R1 equipped with a selection of GYTR PRO performance parts during the GYTR PRO concept showcase at EICMA.
To celebrate the R1’s 25th anniversary, Yamaha Motor Europe has ordered an exclusive run of 25 R1s that will be hand-built from the chassis up and will feature the full range of GYTR PRO performance parts.
The 25th Anniversary R1 GYTR PRO will be assembled exclusively by experienced technicians at one of 25 GYTR PRO Shops across Europe and will be instantly identified as the final tool of the track day thanks to the special commemorative paint that adorns the race-developed carbon fiber bodywork.
The R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary Edition, which boasts specs as close to Yamaha’s world championship race bike specs as possible, is only available to order online, with customers also able to specify a GYTR Pro Shop that will prepare the bike to their exact requirements.
To ensure that they can unleash the incredible potential of the R1 GYTR PRO 25th Anniversary machines, each of the 25 owners will also spend a day racing with Yamaha’s team of dedicated technicians. After initial setup at the track, owners will be able to go through exactly the same process that Yamaha’s world championship teams use with riders like Toprak Razgatlıoğlu to fine-tune the bike’s settings to suit their particular driving style.
