Yamaha just revealed an updated version of their TY-E electric prototype, with the new TY-E 2.0 featuring a new monolithic frame made of composite panels that also houses a power supply that boasts performance. than. At the moment, there is no word on production, availability or pricing yet, but the bike will appear at the FIM Test World Championships in June.
The TY-E 2.0 uses a monolithic frame made of composite panels to contribute to lighter weight and optimum rigidity. The layout of the power supply and battery has been reviewed and revised to achieve a significantly lower center of gravity than the previous model.
Yamaha has also developed a new high-capacity battery with a higher output density and succeeded in keeping the weight gain down to about 20% while still achieving a capacity approximately 2.5 times larger than previous sample.
Based on the previous model, traction has been improved by pairing mechanical components such as the clutch and flywheel with carefully tuned electronic controls that give the engine the ability to read subtle changes. in traction, as is another change seen on the TY-E 2.0.
The new prototype is an evolution of the original TY-E from 2018 that competed in the FIM World Test Championship. The new TY-E is expected to participate in the FIM Test World Championship from June this year alongside Kenichi Kuroyama on the Yamaha Factory Racing Team. Kuroyama-san is also acting as the development driver. The TY-E 2.0 will also be on display at the Yamaha Motor booth at the 49th Tokyo Motorcycle Show which will be held from March 25 to 27.
