Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is inching closer to its July 29 release date, so of course those in the UK and European Union are wondering when they can pre-order the fancy Special Edition.

Well, sadly, even though the people in North America was able to secure their pre-orders recently (despite the added sting of the rosy scalds swooping in), Nintendo has now announced that pre-orders for the UK and EU won’t open until after The game launches later this month.

Here’s exactly what Nintendo has to say on the matter:

Due to unforeseen logistical challenges, we are unable to open pre-orders for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Collector’s Edition before the game’s release on July 29.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused. To give customers the flexibility to purchase and enjoy the game at launch, we will now be offering Collector’s Edition content (paperback artbook, steel case, and outer box packaging) as a separate purchase at a price excluding Xenoblade Chronicles 3 software.
This means you can purchase the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 game when it launches on July 29 and have a chance to pre-order Collector’s Edition content on the My Nintendo Store at the end of September.

So the good news then (if you can call it that), is that you’ll be able to buy your own game during launch on the 29th, with additional content available in September at a lower price.

Nintendo has also confirmed that Special Edition content will be shipping at some point in the Fall with free shipping. So that’s something! Of course, this news came very quickly after we learned that My Nintendo Store has been taken offline for maintenance in many European Union countriesmaybe for many more weeks.

We recently got our hands on Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and have been impressed with what we’ve seen so far, stating that “everything from the newly cracked combat system to the plot twists, turns, multiplications, etc. Fantastically written and top notch world building is making a third entry in this series hitting all the right notes to date”.
