The late charging of orders at the end of FP2 made Alvaro Bautista take the top spot after the first day at Mandalika. The Championship leader, who could claim the title in Race 1, hit 1’33,626 in his penultimate lap to claim a 0.462-second advantage over the next driver.
Bautista was the first of four Ducati riders to break into the top 9, which was a successful day for the Italian manufacturer, who also scored 1-2-3 on Friday at World Supersport.
Teammate Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) finished third and had a positive first day in Indonesia. Ducati could also win the manufacturers’ championship this weekend and with strong racing and single lap speeds, with them having at least one finish in the top three of all fields. , this could be a strong weekend for the Italian manufacturer.
Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK) was in good form as he lay down on the glove and had a comfortable three-tenth second advantage over his opponent for most of the afternoon before Bautista took the plunge. come in late to get P1.
Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) scored a brace here in 2021 and started competing at this year’s Mandalika in the P4 content.
