Wizards’ Delon Wright expected 6-8 weeks break
Washington Wizards guard Delon WrightSources told ESPN on Thursday, the team’s best perimeter defender, is expected to be out for six to eight weeks with a right hamstring injury.
The Wizards say Wright suffered a 2nd degree right hamstring strain in the fourth quarter of last Tuesday’s win Detroit Pistons. He played 16 minutes in that game, scoring five points.
The Wizards said Wright’s injury will be reevaluated in about three weeks, but it is expected that Wright could be out for nearly two months.
In his eighth season, the 2015 first pick had a significant impact on Washington’s 3-1 start, averaging nearly 23 minutes a game with 6.5 points, 3.2 assists and 2.5 times back on.
Wright, 30, signed a two-year, $16 million deal as a free agent this summer. He spent last season with Atlanta Hawks and has had stops with Sacramento, Detroit, Dallas, Memphis and Toronto.
