Dr. Willie Soon gave an excellent presentation at the Chapter of the Federalist Association at the University of Chicago Law School on November 18, 2022. The title of his talk was:
“The Corruption of Environmental Rules at the US EPA: Climate Change, Mercury Emissions, and Air Quality”

Soon’s main points:
- Given the daily, seasonal, and annual temperature ranges across the Earth, warming over the past 125 years is negligible.
- With the exception of the ENSO variations, the average global surface temperature has remained virtually unchanged for more than 20 years.
- Willie humorously cuts out his Wikipedia article and Gavin Schmidt’s criticisms, these slides are well worth the download!
- Willie concludes the paper he wrote with 23 co-authors titled: “To what extent has the sun influenced temperature trends in the Northern Hemisphere? An ongoing debate.” Seriously, this is probably the best climate change article written in the last thirty years in my humble opinion, I always mention it. The directory alone is worth it. - He destroys the nonsense about Mercury pollution that is rampant in the media. possible spoilers, Don’t drink Coca-Cola!
- Is it air pollution or weather?
Finally, President Dwight Eisenhower’s warning about “public policy” [becoming] prisoner of the scientific-technological elite” was right:
“It is time to face a hard truth: the 70-year experiment to federalize the sciences has failed. The task now is to prevent the big Science corporation from continuing to dehumanize society and mandate science. There is a second harsh truth: the reforms needed will not come from within. Instead, the people themselves and their representatives will have to impose them. To restore science to its rightful and valuable place, break up the Great Science alliance.”
