As it looks like the TV series about Will Smith, Chris Rock is ending, a new report continues to turn all eyes on Will. According to Deadline, the Oscar-winning actor has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Will released a lengthy statement about his passing, saying he was heartbroken.
“I have responded directly to the Academy’s disciplinary notice, and I will fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct. My actions at the 94th Academy Awards were shocking, painful and inexplicable,” Will wrote. “The list of people I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all present and the global audience back home. ”
The statement continued, “I have betrayed the trust of the Academy. I have deprived other nominees and winners of the opportunity to celebrate and be honored for their extraordinary work. I’m hurt. I want to focus back on those who deserve attention for their accomplishments and allow the Academy to return to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film. I therefore resign as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and will accept any other consequences the Board deems appropriate. ”
Will swears he’s committed to doing the work to make sure he never lets another act of violence happen. The statement comes just two days after the Academy’s Board of Trustees announced that it had initiated a disciplinary action against Will. As we previously reported, the Academy claimed that the Philadelphia native violated the group’s standards of conduct.
