Now that Canelo Alvarez has once again signed up for the Premiere Boxing Champions, the question of who the biggest boxing star will face when he competes this September is being raised around the martial arts world. The only fight that many wanted to see was the one between middleweight boxer Canelo and WBC Jermall Charlo. Honestly, there’s a lot to like about such a couple. Like Canelo, Charlo is a famous boxer. Charlo is also a pretty successful boxer, boasting a record of 32 wins and no losses. Canelo’s 59-2-2 record needs no introduction. Without a doubt, the redhead star has faced a top competitor over the years, while winning most of the time.

However, there are questions. First of all, Charlo hasn’t fought in a while. Certainly, the last battle of the man took place over two years ago. In fact, the Houston native has only fought five times in the past five years. Regardless of who the competition has been for more than half a decade, Charlo’s background has become pretty thin. It’s not all the men’s fault. After all, the thirty-three-year-old had recently recovered from a hand injury.

Then there is the issue that Canelo is probably in decline. Let’s get something straight, though: A down-and-out Canelo is still far better than 99% of most boxers at their peak. With that said, it will be difficult for any boxer to continue the form that Canelo has achieved from 2018 to 2021. Simply put, this man was an absolute force at the time. Sure, that’s the kind of record that is said to have turned great boxers into the greatest boxers of all time. However, the sun does not shine 24 hours a day. Time lapse. Young talents develop. Established talent begins to slide. It is simply one of those things.

Is Canelo really slipping? Sure, he lost to Dmitry Bivol a while back, but Bivol is a born lightweight boxer and Canelo dared to go great(er) by fighting for the WBA heavyweight belt. In addition, despite not being able to stop John Ryder in the final match, Canelo still won convincingly. In other words, it will take less than two spectacular performances to really convince the world that Canelo is not the boxer he used to be.

Basically, the same goes for allegations that Charlo will get rusty if he takes on Canelo in September. Fans and analysts can speculate, but there’s nothing more they can do. position. That is one of the reasons why the battle of Canelo-Charlo is so remarkable. There are simply so many questions to answer.

Of course, if the war really has a result.
