NieR: Automata Ver1.1a It’s a retelling story NieR Automatabeloved story and the second and third episodes of the anime make one thing clear: this retelling is not as straightforward as the first episode’s depiction of the story. automaticThe first mission’s may have pointed out. While much of the episode revolves around the established lore available in NieR: Automatic machineside quests and data logs, some elements of the story have been altered and rearranged to represent a post-apocalyptic setting from different vantage points. Our latest perspective is from the perspective of a little-known character named Lily from NieR Automata and its associated media. So, who exactly is Lily and why does she appear in the NieR anime?

This article contains spoilers for NieR Automata v1.1a and the game it is based on.

When we first met Lily in NieR Automata Ver1.1a, she is leading a resistance camp that has been fighting machine life forms for centuries. The Humanity Council told the resistance that reinforcements were on their way to help break the deadlock. Lily, tired of her previous experience, showed distrust. “Those guys will never send any support!” she argued.

She was wrong and was surprised when help came in the form of two powerful YoRHa units carrying the logic virus vaccine. In particular, Lily was especially shocked when she saw 2B, whom she calls “Number 2”.

So how does Lily know the “Number 2” in NieR Automata Ver1.1a And what is the nature of their relationship? Original NieR Automata may contain some hints.

inside NieR automaticIn this version of the story, an android named Anemone leads the Android Resistance instead of Lily. Like Lily, Anemone seemed surprised to see 2B when 2B and 9S arrived at the resistance camp. Anemone also calls 2B Number 2, which is surprising to 9S, who don’t know why Anemone “knows about 2B”.

Anemone offered an explanation, claiming that the bunker had told her to wait for them. At best, this is only half true, and a bunch of data entries stored on a nearby terminal reveal the truth of the matter.

These data items, called novels in NieR Automata‘, detailing Anemone’s history with the resistance. The first novel, “Anemone: Encounter”, is a diary entry from Anemone’s point of view, depicting some of her toughest days fighting in the 14th Machine War. In the timeline of ” Anemone: Encounter,” Anemone is one of the only nine remaining androids still capable of fighting machines. Lily is also a member of that group.

Things start to change when the robots encounter a strange group of cyborgs named YoRHa. Among this team is a YoRHa unit known as Number 2. Anemone, Lily, and the others welcome the YoRHa soldiers into their ranks after some initial hesitation. At the time this record is accessible to players in NieR: Automatic machine, they know that Number 2 does not refer to 2B. Instead, it refers to A2, who looks like 2B, and will appear in the following episodes of Version 1.1a.

In NieR Automata In Anemone’s next novels, Lily contracted a logic virus that was said to be incurable but was saved by a YoRHa member named Number 21 before Anemone had a chance to bring her out of her misery. However, the logical virus eventually evolved to resist Number 21’s interference, leaving the party partially annihilated when they launched an attack on the enemy server. While Anemone managed to survive the mission, Lily did not. A2 is also presumed dead. This would certainly explain Anemone’s surprise when she saw 2B at the Resistance camp centuries later. It could also explain Lily’s surprise, assuming she serves a similar function in NieR Automata Ver1.1a. But if Lily is alive, does that mean Anemone? Episode three has a lonely Lily remembering the people she lost in the past. It seems reasonable to assume that Lily may be the only known survivor of a mission similar to the one that took her life during the events of NieR Automator, but that’s still a matter of speculation at this point.

The story of NieR spans multiple mediums with various depictions of the story conveying new meaning and understanding. Lily appeared in NieR theatrical drama before and these theatrical plays may vary from performance to performance. A static version of her story can be found in the manga YoRHa: Pearl Harbor Original Record, too. The writer of the game, Yoko Taro, said that NieR: Automata version 1.1a There will be changes to the original story. Lily’s tired repetition in NieR Automata Ver1.1a is one of our first major indicators of the magnitude of these changes.

The NieR Automata Ver1.1a anime is streaming on Crunchyroll. The NieR Automata The game is available on PS4, Switch, Xbox One and PC.
