Some hotel chains offer significant rewards to incentivize loyalty. Hyatt’s World offers Milestone Rewards to members who earn at least 20 elite nights or 35,000 basis points in a calendar year.
With more elite nights or base points in a calendar year, you can unlock higher value Milestone Rewards, which include free night prize And certificate upgrade. However, you have to choose the Milestone Bonus you want on some levels. So here’s a quick overview of the Hyatt Milestone Rewards and what rewards to choose at a higher tier.
Hyatt Milestone Rewards
Hyatt World Elite Status especially valuable thanks to the Milestone Bonus you receive when you qualify for the status. Milestone rewards are perks you earn for staying a specific number of nights at a qualifying rate (that is, when you redeem Hyatt pointsuse one free night rewards or reserve the highest paid rates directly with Hyatt) or earn a certain number of basis points in a calendar year.
Rewards start after 20 qualifying nights or 35,000 base points and include the following Milestone Rewards:

Club lounge access and suite upgrade rewards are only available on eligible rates at select properties. You must contact World of Hyatt to check availability and redeem these rewards.

40 nights or 65,000 basis points
Upon reaching 40 qualifying nights or 65,000 basis points in a calendar year, Hyatt will send you an email inviting you to choose one of the following:
- 5,000 bonus points
- $100 Hyatt Gift Card
- Save 10,000 points in exchange for the Find . experience
If you are a frequent shopper on Hyatt’s Find experience for tours, meals, events, and other activities, a 10,000 point discount can be helpful. According to Hyatt, you can usually get around 1.4 cents per point in exchange for the Search experience. So you can save about $140 with this 10,000 point discount.
If you don’t use Find, your other options are 5,000 bonus points or a $100 gift card.

Valuation of TPG pegged the value of 5,000 points at $85. However, there are ways to Maximize Hyatt redemptions can yield more than 2 cents per point (especially when you consider that the resort/destination fee is waived for a bonus stay). So choosing 5,000 points is often a better choice than a $100 gift card.
That said, a Globalist member can expect to earn 650 Hyatt points (500 basis points and 150 elite bonus points) from $100 of qualifying activity. So a $100 gift card might be a better option for some travelers.

70, 80, 90 and 100 nights
Hyatt members can choose between the following awards on the 70th, 80th, 90th, and 100th qualifying nights in a calendar year:
Each Valuation of TPG, 10,000 points worth $170. That’s enough score for a peak 2nd class hotel or low 3rd class hotel. And as you can see, getting over $170 in value from 10,000 Hyatt points is easy.
However, Hyatt’s suite upgrade rewards are generous. Hyatt only requires you to use one award per booking (up to seven nights) instead of one per night. However, this makes the value of the suite upgrade bonus highly dependent on the length of your stay.
If you switch hotels often and don’t stay in one place for more than a few nights, it might not be worth using a room upgrade bonus. On the other hand, the extra space can be valuable if you’re planning a week-long family vacation.
One downside is that the suite upgrade bonus is only valid for standard suites as specified by each property, which may not be significantly larger than a standard room. Additionally, a 70-night Globalist membership already has four suite upgrade bonuses available, which could potentially make a fifth suite upgrade bonus unnecessary for some travelers. And even without the suite upgrade bonus, Globalist members are eligible to upgrade the standard set with space available upon registration at the qualifying rate at participating properties. With that said, you may find it useful to use the suite upgrade bonus to confirm an upgrade on a number of stays.
Review your travel patterns to determine if the additional room upgrade rewards are useful at the 70-, 80-, 90-, and 100-night milestones. We recommend checking the standard suite options for your regular properties. Going with a Hyatt suite upgrade bonus for some of your Milestone Rewards may be worth it if the standard suite is significantly higher than the standard room.
