When and how to transfer Ultimate Rewards Points to World of Hyatt

Chase Final Reward Points frequently appear near the top TPG . Monthly Valuation, and that’s a good reason. The program offers some great possible transfer partners Unlock great value when you want to redeem the points you have earned on Chase Sapphire Priority Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve And Ink . Business Preferred Credit Card.

Before you redeem your points, you need to understand the optimal time to transfer your points to your partner, and equally important, how to transfer your points seamlessly.

Today, we’re going to look at when and how you should transfer your hard-earned Chase points to Hyatt World Program.

When should you transfer Chase points to Hyatt?

Rooms at the Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta start at just 3,500 points per night. HYATT

The World of Hyatt Program is considered by many to be the most lucrative transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards Program. Type 8 attributes like Hyatt New York Hotel And Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme Reach 45,000 points per night on peak days with standard rooms available. Typically, the cash rate for these same rooms is over $1,000 per night. And the members of World of Hyatt are Free destination and resort when using points.

However, you’ll want to compare cash and award prices for your stay to determine if transferring points makes sense.

To simplify the process, let’s look at two ways you can redeem Chase points while staying at Hyatt:

  1. How many points do you need to book a standard room through Chase’s online travel portal?
  2. How many points do you need to book a standard room through the World of Hyatt program?

Let’s take a closer look at how to decide which option is best for you.

Search for hotels through Chase Travel

Here’s how to check bonus rates for hotels through Chase’s travel portal:

  1. Log in to your Chase account and go to the Ultimate Rewards page for Sapphire Reserve, Prioritize printing ink business or Chase Sapphire Priority Card. These cards allow transfers to partners.
  2. If you have points in other Ultimate Rewards accounts, like Unlimited pursuit of freedom, combine them into one of the three accounts mentioned above to activate the transfer. For more information on how to combine Chase points, refer to this paragraph.
  3. Expand the “Earn/Use” section and click “Travel”.
  4. Select “Hotels”, enter your search criteria and continue to see how many points you need for your stay.
  5. Select a specific room to see the total score, including taxes and fees. Initial results show only the nightly rate with no additional taxes.

Once you have this number, now is the time to check the availability of rewards directly with Hyatt. Here’s how to do so:

  1. Go to hyatt.com and sign in to your World of Hyatt account.
  2. Enter your search parameters, check the “Use points” box, then click Find Hotel.
  3. Locate your desired property on the results page, then click View Price. (Note that the Hyatt website will not display real-time prize availability on the results page. You must click through each property to verify that prize rooms are available.)
  4. Find the room you want and note the total cost in points.

Then just compare the two ratios to see which is lower.

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek. SUMMER HULL/THE POINTS

For example, let’s consider the Park Hyatt Beaver creek, a Tier 8 World of Hyatt property that requires 40,000 points per night for standard award stays. Low days cost 35,000 points per night, while peak days cost 45,000 points per night.

If booking directly through the Chase portal requires less points, no transfer is required. If it requires more points, transfer is the better option.

Here are two scenarios with different outcomes (assuming you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve):

Friday, January 12 to Monday, January 15:

  • Standard room with king via Chase Portal: 493,333 points.
  • Standard King Room via World of Hyatt: 135,000 points.

Transferring your Ultimate Rewards points will save you over 350,000 points compared to direct booking.

Note: The difference will be even more significant if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Ink Business Preferred. To cover $7,400.18 worth of hotel stays with points from either card, you’ll need to redeem 740,018 points, five times the cost if you’re transferring points to Hyatt.

Friday, October 13 to Monday, October 16:

  • Standard room with king via Chase Portal: 82,200 points
  • Standard room with king via World of Hyatt: 105,000 points

Redeem directly in the Chase Portal will save over 20,000 points on these less busy days.

While the decision isn’t always easy, comparing the numbers will give you a starting point to determine if a point transfer is better.

Often, the decision is not so obvious. You can sometimes get even lower membership rates or discounts when you book directly through Hyatt and if you keep Hyatt World Elite Status, chances are you won’t get those benefits (nor will you earn points for your stay) when booking through the Chase portal. And as mentioned, Hyatt assets will give up those pesky resort fee when you redeem World of Hyatt points — but those points will still be charged for Chase reservations.

Finally, Sapphire Preferred cardholders enjoy $50 annual statement credit to book a hotel room through Chase Travel. During a low-cost Hyatt stay, this could more than make up for the lack of points and elite perks.

All that said, comparing the numbers above should at least give you a starting point to decide if the transfer makes sense.
